Free Zoom Lecture: Harry Jans – Spring flowers in the Tien Shan

Harry studied Garden Design & Maintenance, but has been employed since 1982 by the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. He has been a passionate plant explorer and rock gardener for almost 40 years. Harry is a founding member of the Dutch Rock Garden Society and has served as president for 6 years.

He organises botanical tours to various corners of the world like China, Tibet, Nepal, Sikkim, Iran, Yemen, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina and of course many European countries. In 2000 he received an Award of Honour from the Alpine Garden Society and in 2014 he received the prestigious AGS Lyttel Trophy. He is a regular lecturer at conferences and Study Weekends in Holland, Germany, England, Denmark, Scotland, New Zealand, USA and Canada.

This talk will focus on all the amazing spring flowers one can discover while visiting the Tien Shan mountains in Kazakhstan. Harry will lead an AGS tour there this April.
