Meetings are held in Shrewsbury. Each meeting includes an interesting lecture and there is usually a plant sale. Visits to nurseries and gardens are also organised.

    5th September 2023: Jim Almond: Propagation – A matter of life and death

    Plants for free from seed, cuttings plus a few other techniques. Ignore your favourite or an irreplaceable plant at your peril!

    3rd October 2023: Kevin Pratt: Bulbs are not just for Spring

    For all year colour, bulbs bring a useful splash colour to the garden. A hundred pictures of reliable / unusual bulbs will prove this with tips on how and when to plant them.

    7th November 2023: Tony Goode: A postcard from Pont de Nant

    Tales from a trip into and above the Vallon de Nant reserve and the adjacent Lausanne Botanic Garden. Lots of varied flowers and scenery plus a few insects and brief encounters with other local wildlife

    4th December 2023: Ian Young: Waves of Colour

    For this meeting, our speaker will be zoomed into the hall. (Note this meeting is on a Monday evening, not the usual Tuesday)

    Ian will guide us through his amazing garden where he pays particular attention to sequential planting of bulbs and other plants providing long periods of changing colour.

    6th February 2024: AGM followed by Iain Wright: A trip to the Western Cape of South Africa

    A December trip with Yiannis Christofides of Greenwings. We travelled along the south coast from Cape Town east to George, then north and back via Ladysmith, seeing Disas, other orchids,many flowers and some wildlife.

    5th March 2024: David Charlton: Flowers of the Dolomites

    The Dolomites are one of the most beautiful mountain ranges and with David will guide us through their amazing flora. He will also discuss cultivation of the plants in your garden.

    2nd April 2024: Nigel Hopes: Ashwood Specialties

    An overview of many wonderful plants selected by Nigel, Head Gardener for John Massey. Hellebores, Hepaticas, Cyclamen, Snowdrops etc and practical ways to grow them!

    7th May 2024: Bob Worsley: What’s in a name?

    Intriguing title which showcases some lovely plants from Bob’s garden, on the show bench and in the wild
