About AGS Shows

There are more than 20 AGS shows across the UK and Ireland every year. Our shows are a fantastic opportunity to see some of the best-grown alpines in the country - and pick up a few for your own garden!

Our plant shows

Each AGS show has a dedicated show hall where visitors can browse the array of plants exhibited. There are three sections of entry: Novice, Intermediate and Open. The Open section is where seasoned growers showcase some truly spectacular plants, including rare and unusual varieties.

There is also a plant fair at each show, where specialist nurseries sell a wide range of plants. This is the perfect opportunity to purchase quality hardy plants for your own garden. You can also pick up some expert gardening advice from the nurseries themselves.

The show season runs from February to October. During the peak alpine season (February – May), there is an AGS show almost every weekend.

Entry to our shows is free for AGS members.

Specialist events

We organise several additional events throughout the year. We host our Snowdrop Day in February and Autumn Bulb Day in September. Both events are packed full of talks, lectures and practical workshops to enhance your plant knowledge. Of course, there are specialist plant nurseries at these too.

At the end of the show season, we hold our annual conference in November. Our conference is spread over a whole weekend, with plenty of opportunity to learn from the experts and get to know our other members.
