That's the end of the brief tour of the Alpine yard at Wisley. It has kind of crowded out the current issues on display in the house and the fact that the landscaped house is being re-landscaped.
People need to give some feedback about what they want to see in these visits, more behind the scenes or more of the display plants??
Let's have your comments please.
I have visited Wisley Gardens a few times and have always eagerly visited the alpine houses. The plunge beds were always impressive and the tufa was fascinating. I always wondered what it was like behind the scenes and how many plants were in greenhouses out of sight. I am amazed how much there is and envy all those who were on this tour. It gives an interesting perspective on what is out front.
Elisabeth,
It is worth checking with the staff before a visit to find out what special events are on. This particular visit just happened to coincide with a week when the RHS students were being tasked with demonstrating the "Yard".
Often specialist meetings held in the Hillside Event Centre, such as the Frit Group Meetings or Cyclamen Society meetings will include a visit behind the scenes as Paul is heavily involved with various societies in addition to his day job.
