As I sort out these photographs of Crete, keeping warm by the wood-burner while the wind rages outside, it is reassuring to think that in only 3 weeks? time, we shall be there on the island, enjoying Spring. Here are a few of the plants which we are looking forward to finding and if you would like to join the Tour, please contact Tracy at AGS quickly, as there may still just be time.

We spend our first week at Plakias, on the south coast of Crete, from where we explore the nearby headland for Aristolochia cretica (picture 2), Campanula saxatile (picture 3) and Tulipa cretica (picture 4). At nearby Souda bay (picture 5) we will find the native palm tree, Phoenix theophrasti, as well as the pink flowered legume, Ebenus creticus (picture 6) and Orchis fragrans (picture 10). We will visit sevaerl gorges, including the Aradhena Gorge (picture 7) which has wonderful kalderimi - stone-paved path, of even gradient and ideal for exploration by AGS members (picture 8). here and in many places on the island we will find Cyclamen creticum (picture 9).

At Gious Kambos (picture 11), we have a real treat in store with a host of orchids, as well as bulbs and shrubs of interest.
