This talk has been recorded.

In the summer of 2020 while the world was on pause, Oliver Cheney partially retraced the journey of Reginald Farrer described in his book ‘Among The Hills’. This adventure took Oliver on the hunt for extreme rare beauties including Eritrichium nanum, Saxifraga valdensis, Saxifraga florulenta, Saxifraga tombeanensis, Primula allionii and Daphne petraea among many others. His trip started at Mt Cenis and the Graian Alps in the North, and went right down to Tende and the Maritime Alps in the South. Oliver even inadvertently found Farrer’s ‘Rocca Longa’.

Come along on a stroll down memory lane with Oli, revisiting places he’s been before and longed to go back to, including his first ever trip to the mountains as a Merlin student with the AGS, on a tour of the French Alps led by Michael Upward.
