Next in our cracking series of online events, we treat you to a virtual talk by the famous Tommy Tønsberg!
On Thurs 2nd July at 6pm, expert gardener Tommy Tønsberg will be giving his talk ‘Growing Alpines and Woodland Plants in Norway’ via Zoom.
The talk looks at some of the alpine and woodland plants that thrive in Norway’s cold, harsh climate, where gardening is impossible for half the year. These include everything from Anemone to Hepatica, Saxifraga to Trillium, Erythronium to Meconopsis and many more!
Tommy’s talk is famed among Alpine Garden Society members as being both exceptionally interesting and lot of fun. We’re absolutely delighted that he’s agreed to deliver it for all our members virtually.
This is also a chance for local groups in the far flung corners of the UK, who may not be able to host Tommy in person even under normal circumstances, to see his oustanding talk.
So, tune in on 2nd July to see Tommy first-hand!
Tommy is a gardener, writer, photographer and public speaker based in Norway. He’s written several gardening books and sometimes appears on Norwegian radio as a gardening expert.
With his partner, Tommy runs a nursery specialising in herbaceous perennials. They also open their beautiful garden to visitors in the summer. Find out more about Tommy and his beautiful garden here.
We are lucky that Tommy usually takes a break from the speaker circuit in Norway to come to the UK several times a year. He attends many RHS flower shows and often combines these trips with talks for our local groups!
Tommy also volunteers at the Beth Chatto Gardens for a week every winter …only partly to get away from Norway’s neverending snow.
Of course, this year, with the coronavirus pandemic in full swing, the flower shows and in person talks are cancelled.
But Tommy isn’t letting that stop him! He’s going to come and see us anyway!
…it’s just that this time we get to hear about his amazing experiences via video link. Thanks Tommy!
