We're delighted to announce a new work placement award at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

After interviewing candidates in May, the placement was awarded to Sally Cram. Sally has a background working in TV, film and theatre in the costume department. She started to develop a passion for rock gardening in 2015. “I began to renovate my parents’ garden and the first thing I added to it was a rock garden,” she said. “I marvelled at the amount of plants that I could fit into such a small space!”

Sally has been volunteering at Branklyn Garden in Perth, Scotland, where her love of alpines and woodland plants has developed, along with her practical skills.

“I started doing garden maintenance for a few clients last summer which helped me gain more confidence in my abilities. I’m looking forward to discovering new plants and furthering my learning, with the hope of securing a job at a similar institution.”
