Welcome to the new Alpine Garden Society website.

Whether you’re an existing member or this is your first visit, the website has been designed with a user-friendly navigation to help you find what you’re looking for with ease.

What’s here?

Plant information and tips

In our Plants section, there really is something for everyone. Head to articles & diaries to find beginners guides and plant fact files for those new to alpine gardening. There you’ll also find detailed descriptions of plants in our Plant Portraits and you can read about other gardeners’ experiences with alpines in our garden diaries. We are also introducing a new show photographer’s diary, featuring Jon Evans’ popular reports.

You can browse our encyclopaedia with information on thousands of alpine plants or search photographs of them in our extensive image library. Looking for a local or specialist nursery? Search our nursery directory. Our seed exchange is here too and members can place their orders as before once it opens.

General information

To find out more about the Society, our charitable objectives and membership, head to ‘About Us’. Here, you’ll also find details of our local groups.

We are committed to the conservation of alpine plants and their habitats. Find out about our projects and how you can support them in the Conservation section.

Details of our botanical trips are all in the Tours section. Browse upcoming trips and read the reports from previous tours.

Shows & events

In Shows and Events, you’ll of course find details of upcoming AGS events. Exhibitors can also track their results here.

Books & merchandise

In the shop, there is a wide range of books including specialist alpine titles as well as general gardening. We also sell a selection of gardening tools, merchandise and gifts. (AGS members receive a 20% discount on most items.)

We hope you enjoy taking a look around the new website. More content and information will continue to be added to make it an even greater resource.
