The nursery is now open on Friday and Saturday 10am–4pm (until 30 September) but not on Sunday.
Steve Furness, owner of The Alpine Centre, is reducing the time he spends at the nursery as he winds down from full-time nursery work. But don’t fear, he is not closing the nursery, just reducing the days he opens to the public. He will continue to grow alpines – the nursery has more than 800 sempervivum and jovibara cultivars, plus hundreds of primulas – and introduce new plants. Steve also wants to have more time to devote to educating others about alpines, and will still have open days for the National Garden Scheme (15 and 29 May; 12 June) when visitors can explore the adjacent garden.
