The 2019 AGM and Conference will take place on 16-17 November at the Stratford Manor Hotel, Warwickshire.
The conference is now fully booked but members can still attend the AGM on the Saturday morning.
The AGM is open to all members and includes an update on the Society’s activities throughout the year, plant sales, presentation of show awards and the E.B. Anderson Memorial Lecture. This year it will be given by our Associate Editor Robert Rolfe.
The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Celebrating 90 Years of Alpine Gardening’ and it marks the start of the Society’s 90th anniversary year. We have a fantastic line up of speakers with an infectious enthusiasm for alpine plants!
Conference speakers on the Saturday include Harry Jans on 25 years since the ACE expedition, Alex O’Sullivan (2018/19 Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh trainee) talks about his year in the botanic garden and Dr. Andreas Groeger (scientific curator of Munich Botanic Garden) looks at biodiversity in Georgia.
Sunday’s speakers include Brian Burrow looking back at notable plants that have impressed him over his many years of plant breeding. John Fielding (author of Flowers of Crete) talks about Crete’s endemic flora and Steve Furness will explain ‘How not to build a Rock Garden’! There will also be an artistic display by Philip Cribb.

The conference dinner takes place on the Saturday evening, followed by an auction of choice plants and other alpine-related lots! There will also be the chance to buy plants from specialist nurseries and books throughout the weekend.
