The Icefields Parkway winds through some of the finest scenery on Earth. Vast forests sweep up to limestone cliffs that soar to the majestic peaks of the Banff and Jasper National Parks. Castillejas, Aquilegias, Tofieldias and Dryas adorn subalpine meadows. Fabulous groups of Calypso Orchids inhabit mossy dells and there's three species of Lady's Slipper to savour. The Okanagan’s dry prairies are home to Calochortus macrocarpus, Corydalis, Lewisias and the gorgeous shooting stars of Dodecatheon pulchellum. Fritillaria camschatcensis and the tiered blooms of Lilium columbianum bloom in lush old growth forests in British Columbia's Coastal Ranges. Here are Striped Coralroots and Pacific Bleeding Hearts, and higher up, in the land of Hoary Marmots and Mountain Goats, the alpine meadows are at their best. Monkey Flowers, Kalmias, Saxifrages, Phacelias and many lovely Penstemons make it a very colourful show.
