New Zealand Alpine Garden Society Success
The New Zealand Alpine Garden Society won a Gold Medal and A Supreme Award For Horticultural Excellance at the Ellerslie International Flower Show on 9th March. Ellerslie is New Zealand's Chelsea Flower Show.
Chris Beardshaw with his " An Englishman's Retreat " and the Christchurch Botanic Gardens " Pictures of Life and Death " also won Gold Medals and Supreme Awards, so the AGS were in very good company.
It was reported that 12,000 people attended the Show on its first day open to the public, not too bad for a country with a population of 4,000,000. and in Christchurch only just over 400,000. The weather was very kind, bright and sunny with a cool breeze.
This is only the second time the show has been in Christchurch and the NZAGS won a Gold Medal there last year, so now next year will be a real test!!
