Regulations for US Members wishing to order seed
US Regulations
In order to order seed from the list, US members must apply for an Import Permit and send this in with their order. Details about the permit can be found at:http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/plants/plant_imports/smalllots_seed.shtml
Details of how to apply for the permit can be found at: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/permits/ppq_epermits.shtml
and click on PPQ 587 - Application to import plants and plant products - where you will be then able to register and then apply on-line for a permit. Or you can download PPQ Form 587, print and fill it out.
Permits are free and will be valid for 3 years. If you have had a permit in previous years, please check the expiry date of your permit is after the end of February 2013 to allow time to clear your USDA customs.
To order seeds from the AGS seed exchange, please send:
- your seed order on the form with this booklet
- a photocopy of your import permit (all three pages) for every 50 packets that you order
- a green and yellow label for every 50 packets that you order
You do not need to provide an address label.
The Seed Distribution team will place inside the package:
- your seeds
- a list of your seed order to meet the permit requirements
- the copy of your permit
- a printed label with your name and address.
