Web Site Developments
As you probably know, the long-term plans that we had for the website were frustrated by problems at the company that was employed to do the development work for us. After a 6-month delay during which time the old .org site became more and more out of date, the company went out of business, leaving us with only limited access to parts of the old site.
Most of the site has now been reconstructed at the new .net address and is being further developed. The first developments you may already have noticed is a slight change in appearance of certain areas of the site. 'Plant of the Month', 'Show Reports', the 'Cumulative Index to the Bulletin' and 'News' are now all driven from a behind the scenes database that is administered via a suite of editing facilities that are designed to be easy to use. This makes it much easier to keep these areas up-to-date. The regular show results and picture galleries continue to be kept up to date in the same way as they always have.
If you visit Plant of the Month, you will have the option of seeing other plant portraits - many of these are previous plants of the month, but facilities now exist for adding new plant portraits to this collection and a call for authors will be going out in the next few weeks.
Other areas of the site such as ’Gardens Open’, ’The Pershore Garden’ , ’Panel of Experts’ will gradually migrate to the new system.
