Death of Francis Ferns

The Society is very sad to report the death of Francis Ferns. Francis was a long standing member of the AGS, having first joined the Society in 1937 at the age of 18. In that time he had been very involved in many aspects of the Society and its work; giving lectures and writing articles for the The Alpine Gardener (the Bulletin).  He was an enthusiastic exhibitor at our shows, in both the plant and the Artistic Sections, winning gold medals in both.

Francis died peacefully at home and the Society offers its sincere condolences to his wife and family.

The funeral service will be held at Macclesfield Crematorium, 87 Prestbury Road, Macclesfield, SK10 3BU on Friday, 15 February 2008 at 2.30 pm. Family flowers only or donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Cheshire Wildlife Trust.
