South West AGS Show 2011

The Hall Yet another excellent Show and all credit to Joint Show Secretaries, Bob and Di Dark, and their team of helpers.

Attendance was good and at times the Plant Sales area was heaving. The picture shows the Show Hall at probably it's quietest time (lunch time!).

Mike's Big Pot I managed to crawl to two second places in Section C with my Juno Irises but others were much more successful. A certain Mr M Quest being one.

Mike won the class for one bulbous plant in Section C; and the Otter Trophy (again!) for the same plant as the best plant in all classes in Section C. It's rumoured that when he left home on Saturday morning he told Margaret not to bother dusting where the trophy had been as he's likely be bringing it back! Additionally, so a little bird told me, Mike came pretty close to winning the Farrer Medal awarded to the best plant in the Show with his big pot of Narcissus bulbocodium ssp obesus.

In future he'll be known as Mike (I'll have nothing to enter really) Quest.

.... and his little pot.

For most of the day Bob was putting on a good front!

Draba longisliqua The Farrer Medal winner was Cyril Dart of Taunton with a lovely pot of Draba longisliqua
