Meeting October 18 2012
The October meeting of the North Lancashire Group enjoyed a lecture by Tony Rymer from Leeds entitled ‘Aspects of Italy’. Tony has ben a member of the AGS for some 30 years and is an enthusiastic grower of alpine plants. His talk started in the Dolomites with the high meadows to Passo Cir, then the environs of Sasso Lunga and finally the Pordoi Pass, Covara and Bindelweg. Tony than showed images of alpine plants in the Abruzzo mountains with particular emphasis on Monte de Val Caprare. Next to Sardinia, Alghero and Templo Pausiana. In Sardinia excursions were made to Monte Lambara, Capo Testa and Bruno Spina for the high alpine plants. Finally to the Ligurian Alps and the Col de Tende on the Italian/ French border.

Next meeting, November 22nd 2012 at 7.30.p.m. Venue Greaves Methodist Church, Lancaster when the speaker will be Alan Oatway on alpine plants of Tibet. Visitors are welcome to attend the meeting.
