East Kent AGS Local Group

Welcome to the East Kent Group website

View from Col du Galibier

Introduction

We are a friendly group with a wide range of interests. Some of our members travel to far-away places such as China or South Africa to see alpines growing in the wild, some exhibit plants, photos or paintings in the shows and some simply enjoy growing plants, whether they be true alpines or small hardy plants, ferns or bulbs. The group was founded in 1957 and among the founder members were Jack Elliott, Paul Furse and Hilda Davenport-Jones.

We usually meet on the second Friday of the month, at 7.30 pm at Lower Hardres Village Hall, Hardres Court Road, Lower Hardres, Canterbury CT4 5NP . The membership fee is £7 and visitors are welcome for £2.

The hall is three miles south of Canterbury just off Stone Street (B2068). Turn east at the Granville public house and it is on the left after about 100 yards.
