Garden Party 2016
In July we did not have a speaker but instead we had the ever popular Garden Party, which this year, on 21st July, was at the garden of David and Jill Oakey at Whitestone. Sandwiched between two sunny days, the evening was overcast but the rain held off and members were able without difficulty to look around the excellent garden, with David showing the flowers (I've never seen Hollyhocks grown so well) and points of interest, while Jill was an excellent hostess to members sitting down outside. Other members were impressed by the collection of Salvias and wide range of penstemons grown here. Everyone was impressed by the work that had gone into the miniature troughs that adorned the tables while a larger trough contained a good specimen of Scutellaria “Texas Rose”. The food, supplied by the members present, was as usual superb and enjoyed by all. An altogether delightful evening and our thanks must go to David and Jill for their attentive hosting.
