Whoops! Finger twitch.

In the last two days, I noticed two seedlings of N. calcicola and two of N. rupicola ssp watieri have emerged. These are from the 2014/15 exchange and have surprised me as I'm used to germination taking from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years. The difference has been that this time I stored the seed in the fridge until June before sowing the seed.

In October and November I had some early germinations with fritillarias. Their seeds had had the fridge treatment until September when they were sown. Then it was warm when sown followed by a temperature dip, followed by another warm period.

So - fridge treatment? variable weather? or a combination of both? Anyone else had any unexpected germinations.

Jack
