I would like to find a source of knowledge about Draba to make sure mine are identified properly.

Draba sphaerallea?

Is this a valid name? It's what it says on the lable but I can find no source for this or D. sphaeralea or D. sphaeralcea which appear in nursery lists or in show reports.

I've reached the conclusion the true name is probably D. Sphaeroides.

Anyone know anything?

Martin, it looks like there's been a typo somewhere. The only drabas with sphaer… in their specific name are:

Draba sphaerula (looks possible for your sphaeralea) – this is a synonym of D densifolia

D sphaerocarpa

D sphaeroides

D sphaeroides var cusickii, now elevated to species rank as D cusickii

The best sources of info for names are:

The Plant List

IPNI - The International Plant Names Index

The USDA Plant Database

Thanks Diane, I'm off on an image search now. I'll get the caterpillar that's busy eating it tonight!
