Have just returned from one week at Kranjska Gora. I had an April-May trip to the Himalayas cancelled due to volcanic ash, so this trip was rather welcome. Picture is looking south towards Prisank a mountain in the Triglav national park. Several walks start from this place.

About 100yards up the road a small path looked extremely promising. Helleborus niger was very very common but not always in flower for various reasons

The above fairly common alpine plants were all seen in first quarter mile. Names will probably be familiar: it was exciting to see so much close to the resort

Lake Jasna, 10 mins walk from hotel, where the path crosses the road.

Continuing gently upwards..Pinguicula alpina on seemingly dry rocks and in ditches

Polygala chamaebuxus, above was always the white/yellow form

Entering mixed conifer beech forest Oxalis acetosella

Above: Paris, drooping bittercress and the usual appearance of H. niger at this altitude and time of year

Emerging from the forest on to a clearing, Gentiana verna or similar?
