Inspired by JR's diary entry, yesterday I visited a few sites where snowdrops grow 'wild'. They are doing particularly well this year, and are on the Berkshire Downs growing in rough grass well away from trees! Summer shelter seems to be long grass and weeds such as nettles. They form large clumps and only seed around infrequently. No valuable rarities were found but there were lots of doubles.
This year up on the Ridgeway a fenland has developed ...the first year I have seen anything like it.
