Syringa meyeri "Palibin", an old plant just about surviving in my garden. It has travelled with me each time I have moved house since 1979 when it was purchased as a 3 inch rooted cutting from Robinson's at Swanley in Kent.

And now, how it should be grown! A photograph from Dr Keith Lever's garden at Aberconwy.

Gentiana lutea

Curiously I often hear at meetings that this is difficult to grow in gardens. This mega alpine, seeds itself around in our garden (south Midlands)and always provides a magnificent show. Surely, others have it too.

Woops! Now why has a portrait pic gone landscape? Sorry folks.

Sandra I've reloaded this picture right way up. Diane
