Off to an early start. Enthusiastic galanthophiles queue in the rain to get first pick of the plant sales.

Inside the plant sales were ready and waiting.

The plant sales were soon under siege.

Lots of special snowdrops were displayed by several well-known growers.

For example Galanthus 'Emma MacKenzie'

Four excellent talks:

Galanthus as Part of the Family Amaryllidaceae – Julian Sutton
Scottish Snowdrop Introductions – Ian Christie
Snowdrops; from Landscape to the Cabinet of Curiosities - Eddie Roberts
The Cultivars of Eranthis – Joe Sharman

AGS staff were present with book sales and publicity as well as having organised the whole event.

A lively and enjoyable social occasion (with an excellent lunch included).

People take their snowdrops very seriously. Here is Christine Mowle with her scarf:

... and her nails specially painted for the occasion (all varieties were clearly identifiable with a list of names available)

What a super day it was, according to all reports.    A shame the weather was not so obliging and was wetter than wet - too much rain about  lately, eh?

The  nail art displayed by Chrisitne Mowle is  quite "other" and has been the subject of much interest over the last few years - while it is fun, it is also rather  super that the tyoes are   known and listed - a whole new dimension to having snowdrop fun!
