Acantholimon echinus

In front of the erodium in the last photo was this large and beautifully flowered Acantholimon.

The house contains quite a large collection of Acantholimons, most of which have grown into large cushions and flower well.

In the beds on the other side of the house there were a variety of Delospermas.

There were a lot of other areas of Wisley we hadn't reached that I wanted to visit - Battleston Hill, the main glasshouse and the prairie and herbaceous areas beyond it - but at this point we felt it was time to return through the garden to the All About Plants event.  To be continued...

The wall below the alpine houses was ablaze with colour - Helianthemums again.

Lilium hansonii

In the shaded beds at the top of the rock garden, there were some superb plants of Lilium hansonii.

The rock garden has been stripped and re-planted over the winter.  Rhodohypoxis and sedums are providing some initial colour.

Iris

At the bottom of the rock garden there is a path which runs back towards the main buildings, which was where we needed to go; on one side there was this (unknown) iris.
