With the warm weather continuing plants in my alpine houses are still growing with roots are bursting out of drainage holes. Normally I would stop potting on after September but I am two minds. Will they get stressed from being pot bound or resent being potted on. Has any any thoughts on this topic.

The smart, unhelpful, answer is 'it depends.'. My personal inclination a this time of year is not to repot, especially as the roots will take up moisture from the plunge. This avoids the worst aspect of being pot bound, the need for frequent watering at a time when the last thing you want is soggy compost combined with a hard frost!
