Was no one there? No enthusiasts with cameras to show us what delights were on offer? If the weather's like it is here in the East Midlands it's not as if you're out mowing the lawn.

I need my fix of show plant pictures. Please!! :-)

Fix for Martin

Once again, I was assisting with the show photography, so here are some formal images from the show. It has taken a while to tidy them up. I'll try to limit my comments in an effort to get all these posted tonight.

My apologies to the exhibitors for any mistakes ? as we have seen before, my notes and memory are not always reliable.

Class 1 ? 6 pans rock plants distinct was won by Lee and Julie Martin, with an entry containing:

and a close up

Saxifraga x Tumbling Waters (Farrer Medal)

The entry was dominated by a huge pot (at least 5 feet across) of Saxifraga Tumbling Waters, which was awarded the Farrer Medal. We didn't dare move this plant to photograph it, so instead it was photographed in situ. Here you can see Show photographer Richard Bourne and Lee Martin holding up three A1 sheets of background in an effort to produce an acceptable photo.

Once cleaned up, the image looks like this.

A smaller plant of the same saxifrage won the Downland Trophy for the best plant in Section C for Tony Hale.

Campanulas

As you would expect at this time of year, the show was full of campanulas.

Campanula x Timsbury Chimes

This won the 80th Anniversary Award for the best plant in a 19cm pot for Graham Nicholls, and was given an Award of Merit.
