A fantastic show up in Northumberland, adding to the run of outstanding shows this season.
First, a couple of cushions Dionysia 'Bernd Wetzel' shown by Sam Sutherland
Primula 'Broadwell Milkmaid' shown by Don Peace
Rhododendron cephalanthum crebreflorum shown by Brian Davidson
Pulsatilla 'Budapest Seedling' also shown by Brian Davidson
Ornithogalum sigmoideum (was O nanum), shown by Alan Spenceley
a fabulous big potful of Iris bucharica
a few frits: first is Fritillaria amana shown by Don Peace
Fritillaria pinardii shown by David Millward
Fritillaria acmopetala wendelboi shown by me. There has been some doubt cast on this name, but it has now been confirmed that is the correct name and is a different clone than the one previously seen under this name. Apparently, it fits within the defining characteristics of the very variable subspecies
My two personal favourites of the day Shortia uniflora kantoensis shown by Brian Davidson
And Narcissus Twin stars shown by Jean Wyllie
And thanks to Peter Maguire and all his team for an excellent show in a series of what is proving to be an excellent show year. I look forward to next week at Chesterfield
