What an interesting and varied posting, which rang a few bells with me - I didn't know that you once lived at Brill, we lived at Lower Heyford when we were first married. I used to visit Bernwood Forest too, often trying to combine SW fritillaries, Marbled whites (one of my favourites) and (if I was lucky) the occasional Purple emperor during the day with listening to nightingales as the light faded - magic. We have an experimental hay meadow too, when I cut ours the other day it was baby froglets that hopped out rather than Large yellow underwings! The lily looks exciting, especially if one doesn't have to wait 7 years for offset bulbs to flower, as we do here.
