I have grown this Dianthus for a number of years and, though not a show stopper, it has some strange qualities. The scent is intoxicating and very stron on hot days - like jasmine.
It also marks the start of the late flowering species.
I have it named as Dianthus petraeus ssp noeanus.
Can anyone confirm or provide a better name?
I was given to me on a visit to a Dutch nursery and he was fed up with it and was going to dig the plant out. I came away with a bagful of cuttings.
After flowering I cut it back hard (like Aubrieta!)
