A winter trip
We took a day trip to Germany this week and it was such a great place and we had such a fabulous time I though you might like to hear all about it.
We were invited by Peter Janke and Michael Frinke to visit their garden, Hortvs in Hilden, West Germany. They specialise in Helleborus so it was the perfect time to go.
It was a dry day and not too cold, slightly over cast so the perfect light for taking photos. By the way, it poured with rain all day in England.
I love the effect the winter foliage of the grasse
Peter is an accomplished Garden Designer and Plantsman, the garden reflects this and even in Winter has enough interest to hold your attention.
Helliborus torquatus double
The nursery at the garden is full of lots of lovely wee gems but the Hellebores are to die for!
We love snowdrops and so does Peter. He has a very good collection and they were about two weeks behind the UK, so it was great to drool over them all as they are starting to go over at home.
