Old Court Diary

This entry: 15 August 2014 by Ross Barbour

Minds eye

So now I have laid out a rough idea of what I can see in my minds eye I can tell you a bit more about what I'm trying to achieve.

My main aim is to have a raised bed, unfortunately there's not enough nice lime stone to make it the size I want so I have used some of the chunks of broken concrete along the back of it. This raised bed is going to be half sand bed and half gravel bed with a concrete crevice separating them. I am hoping to experiment with more unusual plants in this as well as stuff that is usually only grown in the Alpine House. I'm sure it sounds awful to the reader but in my minds eye it is amazing!

Behind this on the left of the seat (plank of wood) will be a more traditional area to complement Helens side. On the right hand I will be building a new crevice with proper Forest of Dean Pennant Sandstone but as a step bank similar to the new at RBGE out side their groovy new Alpine House.
