The Autumn AGS Flower Show in Kent

Kent Autumn AGS Show at Rainham School for Girls

It is two weeks today until this Show in Kent and all change with David Hoare retiring as Show Secretary and Adrian Cooper taking on running the Spring and Autumn Shows. So it seems a good time to highlight the Show and wish both David and Adrian well and to look forward to 2016. A poster about the Show has also been shared on Facebook and it will be interesting to see what influence this may have on attendance. It may be that certain plants are flowering too early or too late but there is always a lot of interest to see, and perhaps more significantly plants available from specialist nurseries at a time of year that is ideal to plant while the soil is warm and moist before winter.

I hope this picture will download properly...

At the Show this Saturday David was presented with Waterford Crystal and also this picture of Saxifraga grisebachii by Mavis Lloyd - a nice way to close the Show at Rainham.

(Sincere thanks are due to Mavis who donated her drawing and to Jon Evans who knew of her work and obtained it for us in Kent).
