A mat-forming perennial from Southern Chile where it grows in moist peaty, semi-shady habitats. Seen growing here in a north-west facing bed shaded from hot sun and desiccating sea breezes by a high wall. Provided the woodsy soil it craves never dries out it is quite an easy plant.
