Androsace spinulifera
A native of the mountains of Western China and Eastern Tibet. Grown from seed sown in January 2002, it lives outside year round and has proved reliably perennial. In winter the plant dies back to a cluster of globular resting buds looking rather like Brussels sprouts with spiny tips to the leaves, hence the specific name.
